 WASHINGTON - In response to the Declaration “Fiducia supplicans” issued by the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith today, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) offered the following statement from its spokesperson, Chieko Noguchi, executive director of public affairs.

“The Declaration issued today by the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF) articulated a distinction between liturgical (sacramental) blessings, and pastoral blessings, which may be given to persons who desire God’s loving grace in their lives. The Church’s teaching on marriage has not changed, and this declaration affirms that, while also making an effort to accompany people through the imparting of pastoral blessings because each of us needs God’s healing love and mercy in our lives.”

I think this is very helpful.

  1. It is very helpful to two faced bastards like you who want to have their cake and eat it.

    By playing with the phrases "pastoral blessings" and "liturgical blessings", it is possible for the church to offer a pastoral blessing to a same sex couple whilst with-holding a liturgical blessing from their marriage.

    What arrant bullshit.

    And, waffle, bluster, prevaricate, obfuscate and lie as you will, Gene, the fact remains that

    "Pope Francis is allowing ordained ministers to bless same-sex couples as long as it isn’t confused with the sacrament of marriage, according to a new document issued by the Vatican’s
    Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith Dec. 18."

    Source: The Tablet, December 18th. Had this story required withdrawal and correction, then that would have happened by now.

    It hasn't, so the Holy Father's pronouncement stands.

    Which means, by your spiteful criterion, Gene, that the Catholic Church is not only fucked, but that it has fucked itself.

    How splendid!

  2. Oh, Gene, by the way, just to save you time and effort in concocting yet more unconvincing lies:

    [1] all commercially published books have an ISBN;
    [2] all self-publishing authors and vanity-publishing authors who wish actually to sell copies of a real book buy an ISBN, which is the only way in which retailers and direct purchases can source the book;
    [3] books published online have assigned to them a 10 digit ASIN code which again is the way in which copies of the book are sourced and bought.

    So, be a good fellow and published those details - whichever apply - on this blog, together with details of the publisher and price. I am anxious to read and review the book.

    "AND 'GRANNY BARKES FELL IN WOOLWORTH'S' HAS BEEN PUBLISHED TODAY."

    I will believe this when you put up on this blogpost

    The relevant ISBN or ASIN code

    The name of your publisher

    The price

    The name and address of a retail outlet where I can buy a copy.

    SO, NEVER.

    Kiss! kiss!

  3. "Let me ask you this: can a priest bless an unrepentant sodomite? Of course not. This is why the Declaration states that each situation is judged by the priest. No blessings for sodomites. Blessings possible for any soul who repent."

    A priest may bless whom he chooses.

    Nor is there any condition of repentance attached to the Holy Father's proclamation that couples in same-sex marriages may receive a blessing, so stop scraping the barrel, you two faced fuckwit.

      Couples in same-sex marriages (sic) may never receive a sacramental blessing. Read the document.

      Individual souls may receive a nonsacramental blessing. But not unrepentant adulterers, fornicators, sodomites et al. That would be blessing sin.

      Unrepentant sodomites may never receive a blessing. Pope Francis stated clearly: 'God cannot bless sin.'

    2. I have not said that they will receive a sacramental blessing, you dolt bit a pastoral blessing as authorised by the Holy Father.

      You are plainly working through a list of ways in which I may have misread or misinterpreted the Holy Father’s words, presumably in the hope that you will wear out my patience and be able to claim that you have “won”. Well balls to that. You keep talking balls and I will keep despatchingvthem y try I the back of the net.
