"Just Like Eddie" was a hit single in the UK in 1963. It was sung by Heinz - his first release after leaving The Tornados to launch his solo career. The record was produced by Joe Meek mentor to both Heinz and the Tornados. The song was a tribute to American rock 'n' roll pioneer Eddie Cochran who dies in April 1960 and who had enjoyed greater success and influence in the UK than in his homeland. The lead guitar on the track was played by the young Ritchie Blackmore. The song reached #5 in the UK singles charts. The song written by Joe Meek associate Geoff Goddard.
The character played by Sting in the 1979 British road movie Radio On was named Just Like Eddie - a reference to the song.
The song has been covered by the Silicon Teens. Finnish rockabilly band Teddy and the Tigers also covered the song 1979.
