BACK FROM A WONDERFUL PILGRIMAGE...

IONA

Yes we are back. I am so glad that the five of us undertook this. We had been planning it for several years. Two of us Catholic and three C of E.

More about our pilgrimage later.

In the meantime I was so impressed about a talk one of our group, Eva Spottiswoode (C o E), gave to a gathering on Iona. I recorded it on my phone. Herewith an extract:

"In the Gospel Our Lord warns us about false prophets. There is a price to be paid for those who do not bear good fruit. We have had error since the beginnIng. Think of Aaron, Simon Magis. In our own time priests and bishops teach error to justify their own behavior.

The error of radical feminism has a big footprint in the Church today. What are its fruits? Broken families, childless women. This error is part of modernism, relativism, a problem for maybe 300 years, named by Pius X in Pascendi.

How do we protect ourselves from these false teachings? These unnatural acts – abortion, contraception, LGBTQ acts – can never be tolerated. But we live in such a secular age. Most of the churches in our cities are mostly empty. "

We prayed for all our families and friends  in Ruislip, Ickenham, Denham, Uxbridge and Iver. And of course we prayed for Detterling. I'm paraphrasing here but our prayer for Detterling went something like this:

Dear Lord and father of mankind we commend to you Detterling. Let him aways strive to emulate his friend that holy and saintly man Gene Vincent. Let him turn completely away from his support of evils such as abortion, homosexual acts and assisted dying. Let Delia be a great support to him in this ontological change to his inner being. Let Dear Old Deters never be cast into the Bottomless Pit.

AMEN
