  1. This is a wonderful painting Gene. Herewith blow some notes I have made on it.

    The Mystic Nativity by Sandro Botticelli
    Knowing the socio-political and personal context behind Botticelli’s fascinating nativity scene allows us to understand the individual and unusual elements of Mystic Nativity.
    Painted in c.1500 this particular depiction of Christ’s birth is made up of both plays on traditional imagery as well as less than usual symbolism. Having been described as a visual sermon, the Mystic Nativity is said to represent a specific teaching of Savonarola’s. Above the composition an inscription speaks of the ‘the troubles of Italy’ but also the second coming of Christ and how his arrival will return the demons to hell.
    Divisible into thirds, the upper part of the oil on canvas shows the golden globe of heaven opening above the scene below. Twelve angels, holding olive branches, seem almost to dance as they evoke the jubilation caused by the arrival of the Son of God. Angels are found throughout the entire piece, in far greater numbers that is generally expected.
    Below them, in the central third, the infant Christ reaches out to his mother, dressed in her traditional blue mantle. The thatch roofed structure that acts as the stable is set against a backdrop of cave and forest. The shepherds appear on the right and the three kings (who are interestingly not bearing gifts) on the left.
    In the bottom third of the painting, like the apocalyptic message written at the top, a more unusual subject matter for the Christmas narrative is included. Besides the next group of figures where men embrace more angels, in this section horned devils and demons can be seen fleeing the scene and disappearing into the underworld. An unlikely motif but one that actually seems to imply a sense of optimism from the artist.
    Whilst there is no doubt of Botticelli’s negative commentary on Florence’s period of ‘Tribulation’, here the birth of Jesus Christ is ridding earth of its evil and, hopefully, Florence of its turmoil.

  2. The above entry by "Mary Winterbourne" [who is of course one of Gene Vincent's unlovely shower of sock puppets] has been plagiarised with, as is customary with Gene's bare-faced and shameless literary burglaries, no acknowledgement from the website https://www.blueandwhitecompany.com/journal-entry/sandro-botticellis-mystic-nativity.

    As for this:

    "TO DELIA DETTERLING, SEBASTIAN, CUTHBERT, LUCRETIA AND FFIONA Wishing you a happy and holy Christmas".

    pass the sick-bag, you canting, malicious little turd. Your lies, hypocrisy, nastiness, shallowness and self-basting pietism deface the whole idea of Christmas.

    Christmas, of course, ends at Candlemas, which next year will be celebrated on Sunday February 2nd.

    On that day, the article I posted on this blog a fortnight ago which you were at such pains to remove from it will be posted first class to

    Fr Nicholas Schofield and Ms Angela Atkins at Our Lady of Lourdes and St Michael Catholic Church, Uxbridge;

    Mr Wlliam Cash, editor of The Catholic Herald;

    Mr Simeon Elderfield of the Westminster Record.

    By the time that Lent begins on Wednesday March 5th, Gene, you will have much to repent, much for which to solicit forgiveness, and perhaps an opportunity to realise what a thorough disgrace you are to the church in which my wife and son were baptised.

    Make the most of your Christmas, Gene. The rest of 2025 could well be a bumpy ride. Don't break your neck or anything.

  4. Gene take no notice of this bollocks from Detterling. His nose is out of joint because you have dropped his name off your Christmas card this year.

    1. Oh, shut up, you stupid bugger. Do you SERIOUSLY imagine that I even noticed the names on Gene's bogus leering at my family? Until I read this I had no idea that I was not included in his arse-licking greetings. What a conceited twat you are.

  5. Detterling your lies, hypocrisy, nastiness, shallowness, pomposity, vanity and malicious threats make calling yourself a Christian scandalous. You'll be hearing from me tomorrow.

    1. No lies: I tell the truth about you and it unsettles you.
      No hypocrisy: I loathe you and everything you stand for and I have never pretended otherwise. You are a shit.
      No nastiness: except when I respond to your nastiness. Your allegation, for example, that I caused the suicide of a young woman is pure filth generated by an utter bastard. You are not going to get away with it any more.
      No shallowness: I have thought long and hard about why you are the way you are, and for a long time I thought you were mentally ill. But the mentally ill never respond as you do - trying to save their skins from the consequences of their actions, because mental illness destroys self-awareness. You panic and run for cover at the thought of being made to take responsibility for your nastiness. That is the action of a rational being. So my intention to place this whole matter into the public arena is a considered retribution for your lies, hypocrisy, deceit and malice. Suck it up, bastard.
      No pomposity: at least no pomposity to compare with a man incapable of writing "fuck" on a toilet wall who claims that his writing - incoherent drivel as it is - is comparable with James Joyce, Evelyn Waugh and Ernest Hemingway - AND PUBLISHES THIS NONSENSE IN THE BLURB TO A BOOK CURRENTLY RANKING AT NO. 3, 370, 091 IN AMAZON.
      No vanity either: my memoirs - scheduled for publication after my death - are entitled Memoirs of a Journeyman - that is, of a person qualified and skilled above an apprentice level but below the level of mastery. My only mastery is of versatility - working at skilled journeyman level in music, authorship, teaching, counselling and journalism.
      No malice either - simply utter weariness with being pissed about by the likes of you. It is time you were made to answer for your lies, hypocrisy, nastiness, shallowness, pomposity, vanity and malice - that qualities that make your calling yourself a Christian scandalous.

      "You'll be hearing from me tomorrow."

      Save your energy: whatever casuistical shit you come up with, you are for the high jump on Monday February 3rd 2025, and it will be nobody's fault but yours.
