ANOTHER OPEN LETTER TO DETTERLING FROM HIS NEPHEW CUTHBERT...
I despair Uncle Detters. I really despair. This feud between you and Gene has been going on now for over twenty years. It's so sad. You started out as friends and you have so much in common. You are both former teachers and you are both writers...
Uncle Detters I have been in regular contact with Gene over the past 48 hours. He has a proposal that he will put to you. Potentially it could bring peace. Please don't have a knee-jerk reaction and dismiss his offer out of hand. As I understand it this is something that could be very good for you and for the wider Detterling family.
Also, Uncle Detters, now that we have reconciled perhaps you could pay us a visit soon? You will see for yourself what a fine young man Edgar has grown up to be.
You will be hearing from Gene soon.
As Gene would say: What larks Detters!
Your loving nephew,
Cuthbert
Well done on trying to make peace Cuthbert.
