THE WORST NOVEL IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE?
That's easy. Undoubtedly it has to be Solomon's Portico by Gene Vincent. Yes folks, I am the author of that dreadful novel.
Come back with me to 1976/77. I was a student at Oxford University when I wrote this appalling work.
The novel was posing and pretentious. The prose was cloying and cliched. It was lacking in proper structure or any kind of clarity.
I think I was overly influenced by Albert Camus. We had a Philosophy don at the time at Oxford who was big on Camus.
Thankfully no one will ever read it as I incinerated it.
