This folks is cancel culture at its most pernicious. The perpetrator here is not some young woke character, but an aging tosser of 77 years of age. Detterling you should be ashamed of yourself making such threats.

Dear Ms Scythian,
When, in the past, I have occasionally received anonymous letters, I have usually ignored them, and part of me would quite understand should you treat this one in similar fashion. That said, I would ask that you read this letter, and the accompanying documents with care and also check the provenance of the latter on the blog website in question, which you will find at http://genesmusings-gene.blogspot.com under the title Gene, a voice in the wilderness.
I am writing to you in the belief and hope that you can do something to halt, or at least mitigate, a persecution of me by the author of Gene, a voice in the wilderness, which has been going on for several years, following a period on the TES Opinion Forum fifteen years ago when we had several bitter disagreements on such matters as the adoption of children by homosexual couples, same sex marriage and euthanasia. “Gene Vincent” carried on these disagreements when he began his blog in 2011, and in the process began a malicious personal campaign against my internet alter ego [Detterling, after a character in Simon Raven’s novel sequence Alms for Oblivion and my wife and son – named by “Gene Vincent” Delia and Sebastian].
Among other malicious allegations, “Gene Vincent” has attacked me
•by claiming that he had had an adulterous affair with my wife which resulted in his fathering my son – at the time of the allegation aged five years, now aged twelve
•by alleging that my nephew – whose homosexuality had been an issue during TES Opinion disagreements – is a promiscuous and predatory homosexual destined to die of AIDS;
•by accusing me of feigning mental illness in order to claim sickness benefit fraudulently
More than that, “Gene Vincent” has
•conducted bitter, nasty and bogus campaigns of sneering at the homosexual community, calling them shirtlifters, poofs, gingers, queers, and limp-wristed nancy-boys
•alleged that homosexual men who adopt male children do so in order to have available children to abuse sexually – “Gene Vincent” seems to be of the opinion that all male homosexuals are paedophiles
•a juvenile and dirty mind, as proved by his boast that his penis is 8.5 inches long, which is why he calls it Fellini after film 8½ [see sample two from his blog enclosed]
By now you must be wondering what on earth all of this has to do with you, the answer to which is simple. “Gene Vincent” was, until December 2016, a senior teacher – according to him at one point Head [or Acting Head] of Sixth Form in a Catholic High School in West London. From posts made in his blog I have become more or less certain that this school was yours. I do know “Gene Vincent’s” real name, but for the purposes of this letter, and in the interests of my personal safety I will say only that his forenames are “Robert Willoughby”.

According to descriptions of himself volunteered on his blog over the years, “Gene Vincent”
Reply
•was born in 1957
•went to the Cardinal Vaughan School in Holland Park
•studied PPE at St John’s College, Oxford from 1975 – 1978
•did a PGCE at St Mary’s College, Strawberry Hill, Twickenham
•has been married twice, the first marriage having been annull
•has been married to “Marianne” for over thirty years and has three adult children, two daughters and a son, as well as a grandson
•lives in Big Durex and frequented The Good Yarn in Big Durex with a group of his friends each Friday night until he was banned for life following an unprovoked assault on another customer
•was, during his time in post at Romy Saturday, bald, bespectacled and wore a goatee beard
•retired in December 2016 from a post as teacher of Law and Acting [or substantive] Head of Sixth Form at Romy Saturday
•has twice been the subject of professional sanctions at his school, the first being for abuse of the school’s IT facilities, using them to write his blog during directed time
•and the second arising from a complaint made by a colleague following “Gene Vincent’s” face to face scoffing and sneering at her in the school staffroom when the motion to create women bishops in the Church of England was defeated in the General Synod.
It appears in that last connection that Gene is so disliked and despised in the staffroom that the two teacher governors refused to support him, and further that he escaped professional sanctions only by denying that he was Gene Vincent. That he published these unpleasant sneers on his blog under the name of Gene Vincent, and boasted of the way in which he had abused his colleague is a matter of record. His denial of this at the Governors’ hearing would appear to make him a liar as well as a coward.
The reason I am writing this letter to you, Ms Scythian, is in the belief that you could, should you choose to, end “Gene Vincent’s” persecution of my family and myself by the simple tactic of telephoning him and asking him to desist by taking down his blog permanently. As well as being a bully, “Gene Vincent” is also a fool and a coward, as evidenced by the fact that I was able, by hoaxing him that I was about to expose him to the Catholic Herald, the Westminster Record and the Daily Mail, to make him take down Gene, a voice in the Wilderness for over a year and a half – from June 14th 2019 to February 10th 2021. Once he knows that he has been identified as Gene Vincent in his old workplace, I think even he will realise that to continue posting his blog would be very unwise indeed. This is because, quite apart from the fact of his relentless and malicious persecution of my family and me, his blog is almost entirely plagiarized. It would take you half an hour to spool through his blog and identify the sources from which he steals material, usually without acknowledgement. Exposure of this habit would quite possibly lead to serious legal action.

More than that, part of me wonders if “Gene Vincent” is entirely sane – there has been and is some evidence to suggest that, apart from a homophobia which long since curdled into a pathology, he also suffers from a degree of narcissistic personality disorder. It is, for example, eccentric to write, as he did, “open letters” to Richard Dawkins demanding his explanations for the miracles at Medjugorge or Fatima [see March 25th, May 15th and November 22nd 2021]; on the other hand one may describe his forging of a reply from “Richard Dawkins” proclaiming that “Gene Vincent” has converted him to Catholicism [December 12th 2021] as being simply demented.

The reason I am writing at this juncture is that my patience with “Gene Vincent’s” persecution finally reached an end in the early summer of 2021 when he was emailing me almost every day with insulting, coarse and dirty-minded messages, using an anonymous email address I created some years ago for professional reasons which I unwisely shared with him some years ago. [I was for a long time a professional counselor which required a degree of distancing from clients, hence the anonymous email address.] I began by deleting the email address, but this did not stop “Gene Vincent” from continuing his campaign of persecution on his blog. Accordingly, I crafted a series of posts purportedly from “Delia Detterling” which could, to the inattentive and lazy reader [and I know “Gene Vincent” to be both] have suggested that I had died. This ridiculous hoax fooled “Gene” for nine weeks, although his reaction to the news also showed his unpleasant side; if you want the whole ridiculous story, as well as getting some measure of “Gene Vincent’s” dirty-minded and relentless nastiness, start reading Gene, a voice of the wilderness, referring to the following entries in 2021: [redacted]. Since he realized that he had been comprehensively hoaxed a second time, he has rarely left the subject alone, using his usual tactic of gradually rewriting the facts to turn them into the pack of lies which puts him in the right in which he then convinces himself he was all the time. In this connection, I draw your particular attention to the comments written by “Delia Detterling” to some of the posts above, which contain all the inconvenient truths that Gene has tried so hard to shout down.
I am not particularly proud of the tactics I adopted to try to shut “Gene Vincent” up, but after a persecution which began on TES Opinion in 2005 I have long since had enough of him, and that is why I have written this letter. You have it in your mind to shut “Gene Vincent’s” mouth once and for all and, believe me, should you do this you would be doing a public service. Moreover, should you take this action the matter can remain relatively private between myself, yourself and “Gene Vincent”.
However, should you decide to do nothing, then my only recourse will be to resort to my original plan and report Gene to the Catholic Herald and the Westminster Record. Should this happen, then this letter, with its accompanying documents, which clearly gave you an opportunity to control the situation, will form part of my submission to both of these journals. The significance of my doing so will become apparent when you read the documents taken from actual posts on “Gene Vincent’s” blog which are enclosed. The first is simple attestation of his habitually crude, dirty-minded offensiveness to my wife; the second an attestation to his habit of sexually harassing female members of staff at Romy Saturday School, and the third a disgraceful allegation that my actions on TES Opinion caused the suicide of another poster [this is a lie]. Any or all of these would cause something of a sensation when they become known publicly and were linked to “Gene Vincent”, but the consequences of the second document, in which “Gene Vincent” attests to his sexual molestations of female teachers, could be much more serious.

You don’t need me to tell you that Catholic schools, let alone the Catholic church, can ill-afford any whiff of sexual scandal in the current climate. “Gene Vincent’s” testimony to his sexual misdemeanours could not fail to be investigated and, given how heartily he was detested by many of his colleagues, it seems likely that this testimony would be substantiated by former colleagues, with obvious consequences to Douay Martyrs. The facts that you took post as Head-teacher in 2015, what time “Gene Vincent” was in post as Acting Head of Sixth-Form until his retirement four terms later in December 2016 means that you were, technically at least, responsible for his professional conduct under your management. This is an uncomfortable position for you to be placed in, and, if I were you, I would be very angry about it.
On the other hand, however, we need to be clear about the direction in which this anger should be directed, and that is towards “Gene Vincent”. All the actions which have resulted in this situation are his – had he stopped persecuting me by email, as I asked him to do dozens of times, I would not have been driven to hoax him; and had he stopped to consider that perhaps it had been his persecution of me that had driven me to that extreme, and thereafter modified his behaviour, I would not have been impelled to take this next-to-final step.
As it is, the reprehensible and nasty behaviour has all been his; my only responsibility has been to draw your attention to it, in the hope that you will do something about it.
I should say that if “Gene Vincent” gets the chance he will take down the post in which he refers to his sexual misdemeanours [which, for all we know, he may also have visited on the Sixth form students with whose welfare he was entrusted], which is why I have taken screenshots of them which would prove his authorship to any properly constituted inquiry.
The decision then, Ms Scythian, is yours. Should you ignore this letter and do nothing, I will wait until Candlemas 2022 before sending a second copy of this letter and copies of the accompanying documents to the Westminster Record and the Catholic Herald. This would be a step I would regret, as it would lead to professional difficulties for you and your school, and neither you nor your school should have to cope with those on top of everything else that has been going on. But it is a step I am determined to take should this letter produce no results.
Concluded.
