Have just read that Marianne Faithfull has fallen and broken her hip. Made me think about ageing. Sometime it gives you a real jolt when you see a photo of someone you haven't seen for a while and you exclaim: 'Oh my God! Can that really be him/her? I had this experience recently when I saw a photo of the journalist/novelist Tony Parsons.
