Diocese refuses to sell house to gay couple ... Hurrah!
Boston Globe raps diocesan refusal to sell property to gay couple
An editorial in the
Boston Globe chastises the Diocese of Worcester for rejecting a bid by a homosexual couple to buy a retreat house offered for sale by the diocese. The
Globe affirms what a diocesan spokesman has denied--that the couple's bid was rejected because they planned to host same-sex weddings, not because they offered only a fraction of the asking price. The editorial continues:
The church is free to restrict what it considers unbecoming uses within its geographic boundaries. But its insistence on controlling how even its former properties are used is getting out of hand.
